About Me...

I am a Senior Web Developer for a digital media company and work in London. Before then I was with an award-winning ISV in Scotland.  I have been working in software for almost 10 years.

Computers captured my imagination when I was young, and I've remained passionate about them ever since. My father first introduced me to Spectrum BASIC programming in 1986, when he spent a frustrated Christmas Day trying to get a spider to run across the screen.

These were the days when one could break into a computer program and mess about with the inner workings and see what would happen, which is a great way to learn. I could spend days adapting my favourite games and even making my own primitive simulation or arcade games.

Because of my keen interest in the technology it became an obvious choice to pursue this as a career, and while I can still experience the frustrations felt all those years ago, it is by and large rewarding.

Outside of work, I like to experiment with new ideas and making sure that I keep up to date with the latest technologies. I'm loving jQuery right now (who isn't?) and using it to provide the whizz-bang we all love. My previous project was a Compact Framework PocketPC Data Capture application which is in use by West Lothian Council.

When I get the chance, I like to keep tabs on StackOverflow.com.

Perhaps surprisingly for a programmer, I don't snowboard, but in my spare time I enjoy nights out socialising with friends and playing Chopin.

Badly.
